F4 Brake On pressing F4 the sound of the brakes being applied will be heard. At the same time, if the throttle is set to zero, the loco will slow down as if the brakes have been applied. The rate of braking can be adjusted via CV349. For best results, and to closely simulate the prototype, it is recommended to set the F4 action on your DCC controller to 'trigger' (momentary) action, rather than latching, if your DCC system offers this as an option. Note that, if the brake is left ON, the locomotive will not accelerate!
F5 Light engine With F5 on, the acceleration rate is made quicker as is the deceleration rate. Also, the coasting is switched off. In conjunction with this, lighter chuffs are heard
F10 Buffer up/coupling On pressing F10, the 'Buffer clash' sound is heard, and the 'coupling up' sound is heard when the function is turned off.
F6 Coal shovelling If a suitable LED and resistor is connected to Function Output 1, a 'firebox flicker' effect will be seen at the same time as the coal shovelling sound is heard.
